Atlus has released a new illustration to celebrate the launch of Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis DLC. The official Persona series Twitter account shared the artwork, which was drawn by Azusa Shimada, the character designer for Persona 3 Reload. The illustration marks the release of the new DLC, which focuses on the character Aigis and adds new story content.

Episode Aigis is part of the Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass, which includes three DLCs that expand on the game's characters and narrative. Capcom has announced a collaboration event between Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered and the upcoming movie Saw X as part of a limited-time social media campaign. The event will take place from September 9-19, 2024. While the film debuted in the US in September 2023, it launches in Japan on October 18, 2024.

Participants in Japan can enter the event by following both the official Dead Rising and Saw X social media accounts and reposting campaign videos. Winners will have a chance to receive collaboration-themed prizes, such as original tumblers and shopper bags designed after Willamette Parkview Mall from Dead Rising.

As a reminder, we will see the game soon. Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered is set to release on September 19, 2024. It brings back the zombie action game with enhanced graphics and additional content. Capcom already opened pre-orders for it, as well as announced an array of crossover skins and background music (BGM) included in the Digital Deluxe version. These skins feature characters from titles such as Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter Alpha, and Mega Man Battle Network. BGM tracks tailored to each skin will play while exploring the Willamette Parkview Mall.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is available to pre-order now, and it releases on September 19th on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC via Steam.

Good Smile Company has opened pre-orders for a re-release of the Nendoroid figure of Astro from Astro's Playroom in anticipation of the Astro Bot game. The figure, priced at $42.99, is set to release in the third quarter of 2025.

As with other Nendoroid figures, Astro Bot comes with various accessories and customization options, including three interchangeable face plates featuring a standard expression, a playful smile, and a dizzy face. Additionally, the figure includes parts like a fuse, a coin, and laser effects for Astro’s feet, allowing fans to recreate moments from the game.

The Astro Nendoroid is a painted, non-scale, articulated figure, standing approximately 100mm (3.94 inches) tall. It is set to ship in the third quarter of 2025 and will be available for pre-order in the United States and Canada for $42.99. However, due to licensing restrictions, the figure will only ship to these two countries.

This announcement follows other Astro's Playroom merchandise, including the upcoming limited edition Astro Bot PS5 controller, set to launch alongside the game.

The new Astro Bot game will come to the PS5 on September 6, 2024.

In a recent Game Watch interview, Astro Bot Lead Game Designer Hiroaki Yatoku Yatoku detailed the incorporation of VIP Bots, small robots that act as cameos for characters from classic PlayStation games, into the latest Astro Bot title. These Cameobots serve as a tribute to PlayStation's 30th anniversary, featuring characters from past titles that long-time fans will recognize. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

Yatoku explained that the process of bringing these characters into the game was smooth, with partners eager to collaborate in celebrating the console’s legacy. As players progress in the game, they can find them in levels and unlock and interact with VIP Bots via a Gacha machine, which provides tools that allow the bots to animate. 

Astro Bot cameos often include jokes or references to the original games, aiming to bridge the gap between younger and older players. Yatoku mentioned the team carefully consulted those most attached to the original games to ensure the cameos were faithful to their source material.

In related news, a limited edition Astro Bot PS5 DualSense controller has been announced by Sony, launching alongside the game. The controller, featuring Astro Bot’s signature design, has been available for pre-order since August 9, 2024.

GU has announced a new collaboration with the Kirby of the Stars series, which is set to launch in Japan on September 13, 2024. This new apparel line is themed around a journey to Dream Land, featuring designs inspired by levels, characters, and elements from the Kirby games. The Steam page for Civilization VII has revealed that the upcoming strategy game will incorporate Denuvo Anti-tamper DRM. According to the information provided on the page, this third-party digital rights management (DRM) software will be included as part of the game’s security measures.

The page notes that players will be subject to a machine activation limit, specifically allowing only five activations within a 24-hour period. These restrictions on Civilization VII is in line with the typical limitations imposed by Denuvo to prevent unauthorized copying and sharing of the game. In addition to the DRM details, the Steam page mentions that players will need a 2K account for online interactions. However, this third-party account is not required for offline play, offering some flexibility for those who prefer to play without connecting to the internet.

Sega has announced a new collaboration between the “MJ” network Mahjong game app and the Pachinko Neon Genesis Evangelion: Roar of the Future machine. This crossover is designed to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the anime series. Studio Trigger is set to work on a new Transformers anime in celebration of the franchise's 40th anniversary, marking a return to the series’ roots with 2D animation. The announcement was made through the official Transformers social media channels, where a teaser video was also released.

Bandai has announced a new collaboration between Tamagotchi and Kaga Yuzen, a traditional craft from Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. The special edition Tamagotchi models are set to be released on October 12, 2024. This collaboration is part of the “Original Japan Edition” series, which aims to showcase Japanese culture through toys like Tamagotchi.

The Kaga Yuzen Tamagotchi features designs by artist Hitotsugu Maeda, known for his work in the traditional craft. Two variants will be available. One is called Nagare-sui in Temari, and it is inspired by the first-generation Tamagotchi. Flowers and Plants of the Four Seasons is based based on the Western version of the series. Each model will be priced at 3,080 yen, including tax (approximately $21 USD).

In addition to the body designs, the packaging also reflects the Kaga Yuzen artistry, with characters Mamechi and Mimichi dressed in traditional Kaga Yuzen attire. These Japan edition Tamagotchi first ended up showcased at the Tokyo Toy Show 2024 before their official release.

Konami detailed the Japanese limited editions for the upcoming Suikoden I & II HD Remaster, set to release on March 6, 2025. The remaster, titled Gensou Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars, will be available on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, with three special Famitsu DX Packs offered for pre-order through Ebiten. The Famitsu DX Packs come in three versions. DX Pack I and DX Pack II include 3D crystal art of the main characters from Suikoden I and II, along with 108 acrylic stands representing the stars of destiny. These packs also feature new artwork by Junko Kono, the original character designer for Suikoden I, and a hero symbol engraved glass that pays homage to the protagonists.

The third version, the "Luka-sama Cheering Set," focuses on the villain Luka Blight from Suikoden II. This set includes a T-shirt with Luka's famous line, "Pigs must die!", a wine glass engraved with the Beast Rune, and a 3D crystal of Luka himself.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced an upcoming price increase for the PS5 and its accessories, controllers, and peripherals in Japan, which will take effect on September 2, 2024. The adjustment is attributed to global economic challenges affecting the company's operations. The standard PlayStation 5 will now be priced at ¥79,980 (approximately $545 USD), and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition will cost ¥72,980 (around $495 USD) after the change. 

Additionally, the price will increase for the PlayStation 5 DualSense Wireless controllers, with models such as the Midnight Black and Cosmic Red now priced at ¥11,480 (approximately $78 USD) each, while special editions like Volcanic Red and Sterling Silver will retail for ¥11,980 (about $82 USD). Other accessories, including the PlayStation Portal Remote Player and the PlayStation VR2, are also affected. The PlayStation VR2 is now set to cost ¥89,980 (roughly $615 USD), and the bundle including Horizon: Call of the Mountain will be priced at ¥94,980 (around $650 USD).

This comes after price increases for Sony's subscription services on the console worldwide. PlayStation Plus offers three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. The Extra tier provides access to a broad selection of games, and the Premium tier includes additional features like classic titles. Monthly subscription rates are now $9.99 for Essential, $14.99 for Extra, and $17.99 for Premium, following an increase in September 2023.

These new PS5, controller, and peripheral price increases will go into effect in Japan starting on September 2, 2024.

Square Enix announced that Foamstars, currently available on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, will transition to a free-to-play model beginning on October 4, 2024. This price change marks a significant shift from the game’s previous regional pricing strategy and is designed to make the game accessible to a broader audience.

Notably, after the transition, players will no longer need a PlayStation Plus subscription to access the game. This means anyone will be able to download and play Foamstars for free.

For those who have already purchased and downloaded Foamstars before the switch, Square Enix is offering a "Legacy Gift." This package includes 12 exclusive color-variant Bubble Beastie skins, an exclusive Slide Board design, and a special title called "Legacy." 

Since its launch, Square Enix updated Foamstars with season passes and additional characters. For example, a new season will start on August 30, 2024. That will bring with it an additional playable character. Ahead of its launch, Square Enix shared a song that will show up alongside the update called “Golden Beats.” 

The price change is set to take effect on October 4, 2024. Square Enix advises players to confirm that the price has been updated before downloading the game, to ensure they receive it for free.

Foamstars is available for the PS4 and PS5.
